2012

2012 was a heck of a year. I did a ton of shoots this year and met more new incredible people. Recently I was making my end of the year retrospective montage which you can see here and realized some things about my photography and I think it is going to make me a better photographer in the upcoming years.

Before I get to that though I have to thank everyone who I was lucky enough to work with in this past year. Some I have worked with in the past and some for the very first time. Some I met only this year and shot with 6 times already. When I find something I like I go with it.
Many times when I speak to a potential client I ask them what they are interested in shooting and many times I get the same answer; "something different." They tell me that they love my pictures but they want something different. To me that makes no sense. If you like my pics, then you like my style. If you pick up a bottle of Coke you expect to taste Coke. You don't think I wish that tasted differently. If you want an orange soda, go pick up a Sunkist. I have come to the realization that I have found my style and that is what I plan to shoot in 2013. Simple, sexy, fun works. I love taking beautiful portrait pics. If you give me a different setting or location I will make that work too. But I have found my lighting style, my editing style and the way that I want my pictures to look. That is not to say that I will not veer from that in some cases but if you like my style then come to me for that and offer me some suggestions and we will see what we can do.

I also started shooting some other genres this past year too which I look forward to carrying on into the new year. One of them was fitness. I wrote a whole blog about it which you can find here. Loved starting this and can't wait to continue it in the new year.

Another area of photography that I got into which I loved was pets. Earlier this month I did my first real shoot with dogs and loved it. You can read more about the shoot here and I can not wait to do more in the coming year as well.

I also started some series of photos this year which I plan to continue with in 2013. Some of them included working with black light paint and gems and tattoos. When I shoot I want to do things that are fun and beautiful and that have meaning as well. I had a great time with all of these ideas this year and will be doing more as the new year starts.

I can not wait to start my shoots for 2013. The first few weeks are jam packed with beautiful women. Some I will be meeting with for the first time and some are favorites of mine.  I have shoots almost every day of January and then will be heading down to Florida in early February for some relaxation as well as some shoots with new models. I could not be more excited for what the new year has waiting for Joshua Paull Photography.

Thank you to everyone who I have shot with and to everyone who supports Joshua Paull Photography. I have to thank my brother Zach for putting up with me and allows the studio to be placed in the apartment. I must thank my good friend Jeff of Hot Flips who is a huge supporter from the beginning and has on many occasions lent me his warehouse in Farmingdale to shoot. I also want to take a second to thank my friend Francesca who puts up with my crazy on a daily basis and consistently calms me down. Another thank you to my good friend Chayse who is also a big supporter of mine and even from Florida finds ways to help me out. There are so many of you I would like to thank that I don't want to forget anyone, so I once again say, THANK YOU!!!!

Happy New Year to everyone and I hope that everyone has a fantastic year... JOSH
